Statement of Faith

Community Chapel of Christ bases it’s ministries on the following doctrinal tenets:
  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired and infallible Word of God (II Tim. 3:15-17).
  • We believe and touch the mystery of the God-head. We believe in the divinity and humanity of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Jesus was birth human and divine. As a divine being he manifested himself in the flesh and lived on search (John 1:1-14).
  • We believe in the miraculous virgin birth of Jesus, the only begotten Son of God (Matt. 1:23).
  • We believe that while we were yet sinners that Jesus shed His blood on the Cross and died to atone for our sines that we may have life, and have to more abundantly (Colossians: 1:15, John: 10:10).
  • We believe that Jesus rose on the 3rd day as he had promised and that he ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven (I Corinthians. 15:3-4, Mark 16:19).
  • We believe in the personal return of our Lord and savior with power and great glory (John 14:3, I Thessalonian 4:16-17).
  • We Believe in the water baptism in Jesus’ Name (Acts 2:38).
  • We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit through faith/ Regeneration that is a direct result of repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ (Tutus 3:4-7; Luke 24:46-47).
  • We believe in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and that it provides Christians with the ability to alive a godly lifestyle (Galatians 5:16-18).
  • We believe that the lost or the unsaved will experience eternal damnation (Rev. 21:8).
  • We believe that the ministry of evangelism is a responsibility of both the church and each Christian (Romans 10:9-15; Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20; I Peter 3:15).

Our Founders

Bishop John and Pastor Darlene Jackson were sterling leaders who confront to attain community through love, prayers, and a heart to see souls saved. Bishop and Pastor Jackson were destined by God to be soldiers of their kingdom, both worked in collaboration, with the god’s will for almost 4 years. Bishop as an idealistic person answered the call of God to pastor and start the community chapel of Christ church. A prodigious ability to make everyone feel special was a gift that god used to draw many to Christ. What he had, he served and encouraged others to do the same. This desiccation set an example and inspired other spiritual leaders to follow in their ministries.

Seeking education as a priority, he boosted the members to pursue both secular and Christian education. A well-rounded education can make you see clearer and you can move a long way ahead. Alongside Bishop Jackson, his wife, Darlene Jackson used to serve prayers in the church. Many lives reclaimed, souls were saved and many miracles took place.

Pastor Darlene Jackson, as a business mind and great tenacity, kept the ministry going through intercession. She catered training to women to make them spiritually and naturally strong. She modified wisdom and taught women’s purity classes that educated young women of God to submit body, mind, and soul to the lord without compromise. She as an idealistic person encouraged young people to continue their education by establishing scholarship awards and services. She alone raised money to award each high school graduate with a scholarship toward undergraduate expenses.

Pastor Darlene was preceded in death by Bishop Jackson who went home to be with the Lord on June 8th 2010. After his death, she continued to serve the Lord with purpose and obedience as the Overseer of the Community Chapel of Christ Ministries Church. There she carried the torch and continued to reach, teach and prepare the next generation of leaders to carry on the legacy of holiness, service, sacrifice and the vision of Community Chapel of Christ. She honored the Lord Jesus Christ and served Him until the day of her transition from this physical world on February 4th, 2013. With the help of the Lord, we now will continue to carry the torch of our leaders and keep the legacy alive.

Mission

Our Vision for the future of Community Chapel of Christ consist of a 3-pronged modern approach to ministry: ministering to the world as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19; ministering to the body of Christ as the Apostle Paul described in Ephesians 4:11-12 and ministering to families as the Apostle Paul did in Colossians 3:19-21.
We envision ministering to the world with the talents, tools and technologies available today to spread the gospel to our immediate community and beyond. We envision ministering to the body of Christ with the ministry and spiritual gifting he has placed in the church as noted in 1 Corinthians 12. We envision ministering to families in our immediate community and eventually on a global level by hosting uplifting family sessions and international family conferences. Ensuring that families are whole and functional is of the utmost importance. We intend to provide the tools necessary to accomplish this within our ministry. Some of these tools will include marriage and family counseling, couples and family retreats, and youth retreats where we will focus on healing, wholeness, growth, and having fun.
Engaging our youth is key to them acquiring they receive a solid foundation in Christ. Therefore, we are passionate about involving them in most aspects of church services and giving them a platform to share their gifts and talents. We envision hosting youth café events where they can come together and celebrate Jesus in a fun and reverent way. We want to see the power of God manifest through them in church and amongst their peers in the community.
Finally, we envision having a prayer line that will be open for 24 hours to accommodate those who need to reach a prayer partner day or night. Maintaining an environment of pure worship is significant to the ministry. There must be an atmosphere in the Lord’s house where His Spirit can abide.
We appreciate our small beginnings and plan to move forward as God directs our path by working to encourage God’s people, both young and old, through the Word of God and to reach as many souls as we possibly can for His kingdom.

History

Community Chapel of Christ began in the basement of our beloved Bishop John W. Jackson and our Pastor Darlene Jackson’s home in Newark, NJ in the year of 1983. What started out as a prayer band in their home eventually became a weekly gathering for church services and prayer. People in the community were drawn to the power of God demonstrated in the house. Many were saved and filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit, many were recipients of healing miracles, and others were delivered from demonic strong holds. Bishop and Pastor Darlene Jackson counseled people in the neighborhood, helped provide basic necessities for those in need and taught them about Jesus Christ. They were respected by all people of all faiths and all walks of life within their community.

As the membership grew, there was a need for a building. The church moved to East Orange, NJ where services were held on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. After a couple of years of holding services, the Lord led Pastor Jackson to move to North Newark where the membership continued to grow. The church remained faithful throughout the years and God eventually opened the doors for the church to secure its very own building on Hawthorne Avenue in Newark where the ministry still resides to this day. Soon after, God laid it on Bishop Jackson’s heart to rename the church Community Chapel of Christ Ministries, which was a foreshadowing of the direction in which the church would be going in the future.

In 2002, our Bishop Jackson was led to execute a long-time dream of his, which was to start a Bible School of his own where God’s people could be properly equipped to carry out their divine assignments. He called it the Community Chapel of Christ Bible Institute (CCCBI). In addition to educating people in God’s Word, our Bishop fathered many ministries during his lifetime, but one ministry in particular actually joined our fellowship to officially begin the CCCM Fellowship Organization. A Gate Called Beautiful under the leadership of Pastor Margie Lewis officially joined the CCCM Fellowship Organization in March 2004. God is doing a marvelous work at CCCM that is progressively seeking to bring loss souls to him through love. Our Bishop and founder of Community Chapel of Christ Ministries went home to be with the Lord on June 8th, 2010. Nevertheless, his spirit, legacy, and vision still remain. Close to our beloved Bishop’s heart was servicing the community with whatever resources we possessed. Many of our current ministries continue to fulfill this vision by serving the community and ensuring that God gets glory through displaying the love of Jesus. In the absence of Bishop and his wife: Pastor Darlene Jackson, we plan to move forward with the same passion for building God’s kingdom.
