Our Story

How it all started...

The Community Chapel of Christ Ministries began as the Community Chapel of Christ Church in June, 30, 1983 in the  basement of a home located at 91 Abinger Pl., Newark, NJ.  This was the home of the church's original founders: Bishop: John W. Jackson and Overseer: Darlene E. Jackson.

What started off as a small Christian prayer group in the Jackson's home became a weekly gathering of Christian family members, friends and neighbors for church services and prayer. So many people in the local community were drawn to the Jackson's home because of the power of God that manifested there.  The Jackson's home essentially became a "chapel for the community".

Because the community was drawn to the Jackson's home for Christian worship, the once prayer group had become an established church and took on the name: the Community Chapel of Christ Church inc..
Many were converted, baptized in water and filled with the Holy Spirit at 91 Abinger Pl. in Newark, NJ.

Expanding the vision...

As the church grew in number, it moved to a building located at 105 Main St. in  East Orange, NJ  and later to its present location: 385-387 Hawthorne Ave, Newark, NJ.

Where we are headed...

Under the leadership of Pastors: Michael & Lori Beasley Community Chapel of Christ Ministries (CCCM) is undergoing redevelopment. CCCM presently occupy a 2,000 sq ft. space at 387 Hawthorne Ave. Plans are in place to expand the worship area and add new ministries such as the Family Support ministry (Domestic Violence supportive services, Marital & Family therapy) and the "Tech" ministry.  Plans are also in place to extend the present Health and Wellness and Community Engagement ministries.  In its progression, Community Chapel of Christ Ministries will remain a "Chapel for the Community".
